First Grade Math Curriculum

 

-The majority of our math curriculum is based on Everyday Mathematics, and online resources are used to supplement in meeting the common core standards.

-It is a spiraling curriculum, which provides ample opportunities for each student to develop and demonstrate their math skills.

-These skills are built into a variety of partner, small group, and whole group games.  Some games include the number line squeeze and dice roll tally.  These allow students to explore a variety of math manipulative as well.

-Home-links provide important opportunities for you to interact with your child’s daily work and helps children to see math outside the classroom.

 

What Will My First Grader Learn in Math?

-Apply and understand addition and subtraction properties with numbers 0-20

-Count to 120

-Identify the place values of a number

-Telling Time to the hour and half-hour

-Identify 2 and 3 dimensional shapes

-Measure in nonstandard and standard units

-Partition shapes into halves and fourths
